In 2020, amidst the uncertainties of a world grappling with airborne contagions, the Barnfather family found themselves intimately familiar with the need for protective gear.
“As a family, we have always been acutely aware of the risks of airborne contagion as I have a condition which requires long term immune-compromising medication. Masks worn when travelling were nothing new to us, we had first-hand experience of their generally poor design.”
When the pandemic ushered in mandatory mask-wearing, Founder Marc Barnfather couldn't shake the discontent that often shadowed these vital accessories. This ignited a deeper exploration into the realm of everyday clothing – their form, function, and emotional resonance.
During the confines of lockdown, Marc, alongside his family, delved into a realm far beyond their expertise – the intersection of fabric production, psychology, and clothing design.
"I knew little about fabrics, patterns, or sewing... but design? That was my forte. Good design isn't just about aesthetics; it's about functionality and the emotional experience it evokes. Enlisting the insight of my wife and daughter, we set out to reimagine everyday clothing."
For two transformative years, Marc's engineering acumen drove the creation of patented designs and a line of natural fibre travel wear. Each garment meticulously crafted to optimise fit, comfort, and breathability, embodying the essence of both physical and emotional well-being.
